crash course in pop culture

watching the mtv vmas last night only further reminded me of how out of touch i am with "popular culture". not only did it make me feel disconnected, but also old. all of the jumpy camera work, cutting from one suite at the palms to the next, too many bad bands crammed into one room trying to make a cohesive song...it was just awkward. and speaking of awkward, how about britney. to go from this:

and even though i was pulling for justice to win best video, in a medium like pop music it is no surprise that the one with the big money and the big name behind it took home a statue


but in no way am i hating on rhianna first of all because she's adorable and second because she rocked it out in the vid. so you have jay-z to back you up, you also have the talent to back yourself up. kudos.
