after months and months of the rumor mill turning, the infamous CBGB's in nyc finally closed its doors this year. now news come that fashion designer john varvatos has stepped in to turn the historical birthplace of new york punk into a 3,000 square foot store front complete with a stage for in-store performances.
it isn't quite the CBGB's you remember, but hey at least it isn't being torn down to build condos...

varvatos has worked for both calvin klein and ralph lauren, helping both labels launch hugely successful men's lines. he currently designs john varvatos, john varvatos usa as well as converse by john varvatos...and apparently he likes his name.
