launched in 1996 with the ultimate goal of of becoming a cultural breeding ground for emerging artists, surface2air has grown into an international design collective boasting spaces in new york, paris, stockholm and tokyo. as the brand has grown, so has it's vision stretching to become "a unique place where true creativity and artistic expression meets the commercial palate of the global community at large". stepping into all pools of communication the collective as a whole is responsible for 3 art books, a men's and women's clothing line, as well as art directing and consulting for companies such as nike, adidas, HBO, atlantic records, VICE, and sony.
